Three Priorities For The Believer, Part I

When it comes to the life of the Believer, there are three major priorities that should be paramount:
1) Finding the will of God for your life.
2) Finishing the work that He has entrusted to us.
3) Always being a soul-winner.

To begin this blog, I want to answer the question that many Christians ask regarding our first point: What is the will of God for my life? You may be asking yourself that very same question, even while you are reading this blog. You may be wondering what God has in store for your life or what you are supposed to do with the rest of your life.

Maybe you have asked the Lord, as I did when I was younger, “What is my calling?” Well, the truth is that every single child of God has been called to do something, and it’s up to you to find out what that calling is. The will of God is the single most important thing in the world, and it behooves us to find the will of God for our lives.

To understand His will for our lives, it takes us seeking His face for His will. It takes us coming before the Lord in daily prayer asking and seeking His will.

I want you to understand that every believer should desire the will of God, but many have an erroneous view of what the will of God may be. Satan has been tremendously persuasive by placing things in the minds of believers that leave them with a distasteful feeling.

They think—and this is what Satan wants them to think—that if they seek the will of God, He will make them do something that they don’t want to do, or that they might be afraid of what He could ask them to do. Whatever the Lord asks a believer to do, He will first place a passion, or love, in that person’s heart for whatever it is that the Lord asks him to do. There will be a sense of fulfillment when a person sets out on his journey, and there will be a joy in doing whatever it is that he is supposed to do; it never needs to be a loathsome task.

Now, there is a difference between knowing God’s will for your life, and doing God’s will for your life. There are scores of people who have known God’s will for their lives, but they refused to walk in His will. They would rather seek their own wills, which are full of problems, instead of following after the will of God.

We must always keep in mind that the true meaning of life is to follow the will of God and to accomplish what He sets out for us to accomplish. As a believer, you will never be satisfied with anything outside of God’s will. You will never find happiness outside of God’s will. You will never know true joy outside of God’s will. You will never experience peace outside of God’s will for your life. Seek His face for His will and follow that will, whatever it might be, and you will find true peace of mind.
